Thinking out Loud Thursday

Happy Thursday friendly faces! I’ve been busy with University work so I thought it would be a perfect time for a random slew of thoughts!

Thinking-Out-Loud2

Thank you Amanda for hosting!

1. I found this picture a while back and am not sure if I posted it or not, but I am still very much in love with the adorable unicorn believing in us! 🙂

2. Persian food is where it’s at. We celebrated our New Year last week (happy 1394!) and while I’m still drafting that post, I thought I would entice you with a few delectable images of my favourite part of a Persian feast:

IMG_1893 IMG_1888 IMG_1891 IMG_1887IMG_8471

The crispy, crunchy, buttery crust that forms around the rice. Scrumptious! P.S My grandpa created a very special type of tahdig you can salivate over in the first few pictures; it contains all 3 kinds of crispy goodness: Bread, potato and rice!

3. I have finally received some of the photos from our LA trip! Will be blogging about the amazingness very very soon!

IMG_8256

4. Have you ever heard of a pugle? It’s a pug/beagle mix. I’m not sure whether I find them adorable or alieny… what do you think?

IMG_8448

5. Speaking of dogs, I took the munchkin to class a few weeks ago. Yeah.. not the best decision ever.

IMG_7970She sat rather still for the first few MINUTES but then decided to explore her surroundings – much to my fellow students entertainment. I however could not concentrate at all and ended up with little to no notes…

IMG_8389

There is another dog (the pug Kaiser) who accompanies his owner to class every day! I just received a video of him this morning and will share that with you soon 🙂

6. I managed to convince this guy to come to a big party with me at Aura a few weekends ago.

IMG_8331

Look how long my hair has gotten!

7. I recently fell in love with Shellack manicures.

IMG_8505 IMG_8510 IMG_8513This one is inspired by the great Jin Soon Choi.

8. Sushi. It’s why I am currently broke.

IMG_8378Currently saving up to eat more of those tempura rolls!! Also still going crazy over cheese! I want it on everything and anything. Especially eating it pure as fondue/raclette has been rather high on my list of to-dos lately. Weird, but I am not complaining 😉

9. IMG_8146What do you guys think of the Maple Macchiato? I personally find it too sweet with the added vanilla syrup so opt for a soya cappuccino with maple topping instead, as I do quite like the drizzle.

IMG_8131

10. And finally, I realise I haven’t been posting much about the gym, dance or anything sporty lately (let alone make-up…) but I swear I have been busy moving my bod (and applying beautiful colours)! I have taken up yoga again, try to make it to body pump at least once a week, recently performed in a whirling show

IMG_8190

and am also working hard on my flexibility.

IMG_8046

I’ll be sharing a few posts on my current obsessions as soon as I have gotten a good chunk of work done!

Until then, have a great week!

Thinking out Loud Thursday

1. FINALLY I have figured out an (albeit excruciatingly time-consuming) way to upload my longish party videos from the 2 nights in Ibiza that were monumentally worth documenting. Now that’s a sentence. WOW. But I digress.. you wanted Steve Aoki and Calvin Harris – not me and my random babbling…But Thursdays are for random babbling and out-loud thinking, so, well, uhm… I give you both 😉

This was CREAM at Amnesia (Calvin Harris)

I have too many videos. I filmed the whole night. Yup. And you wanna know why I stood there with my phone in the air waving it like I just don’t care?  (Sidenote: I very much did care…). Well there were sooooooooo many people there, my friend and I could barely move! It was terrible… I couldn’t dance. I was devastated. At least all the videos enabled a rocking dance session away at home…#notthesame

And here is Steve Aoki (by the way I keep on wanting to write Aoiki. Annoying!) Both parties were fantastic and our clubs at home are nothing in comparison. I did feel slightly less “safe” at the big club Amnesia, but mainly because it was full of drugged up drunks and you never know what they might decide to do… I generally stay away from clubs with that reputation in Zürich, but in Ibiza you can’t avoid it everywhere. I ended up not indulging in cocktails to make sure I could safely enjoy my evening (my parents should be proud ;))

2. Can we take a minute to talk about the weather? One minute it is warm, the next it starts to rain, and then it gets so hot I want to stick my head out of a moving vehicle on the highway to cool myself down. Very frustrating.. especially since this weekend should be full of parties that are meant to be held outside (but more on that next week 😉 )

3. You know how I was on a roll, and didn’t purchase any new things for a while? Well I caved… IMG_1417 I needed eye make-up remover for back home in Zürich, as I had run out of my favourite, and while I was there I picked up some chapsticks for good measure. I have gone so long without, I am so happy to have my favourite colour back in my life 🙂

4.  This napkin is from my favourite bar in Zürich IMG_1930 Dante makes the BEST amaretto sour. The first time I went there was for my best friend’s birthday, and I asked the waiter to surprise me. He mixed up an amaretto sour WITH almond oil, and it is now the only thing I will ever drink there. Oh and, the waiters are super cute! They wear bow ties and could easily be models. My best friend may or may not have pushed me into the one I wanted to inconspicuously flirt with…(I was so embarrassed by it, that I for once in my life could not utter a single word – yup, fail!) IMG_1931 5.   Can we talk about my new favourite snack for a minute? IMG_1407Medjool dates smothered in homemade almond butter are seriously my new go to EVERYTHING. Pre-workout snack when I am not too hungry? Have a few. Need a dessert? Have a few. Don’t know what you want for breakfast? Have a few. IMG_1415 I even have a stash at the office… you know for those times you really need a date, but can’t seem to get asked out on one. (Pun intended 😉 they are a wiser choice than ice cream as comfort food and go well with Sex and the City reruns. )

6. I got in trouble at Body Pump last week. IMG_1933 I was building up my warm-up weight of 8.5 kg when the trainer said that if I started that heavy, I would need to go up to 20 kg for my squats, which lasts 5 + minutes. Errrrrrrm, no – not gonna happen. I know I want to start CrossFit, and you squat heavy there, but you don’t squat in a cardio-ish way like in Body Pump, i.e. so much more doable with heavier weights. So, lesson learned: I now warm up with 4.5 kg

IMG_1442

7. I have 2 new favourite songs that I am listening to on repeat:

IMG_1453

I love Ed Sheeran. I adore his entire new album – cannot wait to see him in concert!!

IMG_1463

Klangkarussel – always awesome

8. Check out my new screen saver at work

IMG_1441I got it here, and LOVE looking at it every morning when I start up my computer. Thank you Catherine, for the beautiful wallpaper 🙂

9.  I’ve got a new favourite pre-workout snack, and the recipe will be coming your way veeeeeeery soon. For now, here is a picture to drool over:

IMG_1472

I’ve actually also got a post-workout recipe to share with you soon too!

IMG_1464

Do you sense a pattern? 😉

10. Hope you all had as fabulous a Thursday as I had. I went to my favourite Les Mills Bodystep class and had so much energy from my snack that I was jumping for joy 🙂 I’m also finally seeing some results in terms of fitness and strength, so stay tuned to find out more about my pursuit of health and eternal happiness!

Thank you Amanda for hosting!

Thinking out Loud Thursday: Random Ramblings

I recently skyped with my beautiful Grandmother and noticed how radiant she looked  (seriously Grandma, you looked great 🙂 ). Being the beauty-crazed person that I am, I naturally asked her what she does, what product she uses and how she cares for her basically wrinkle-free skin. I just had to know her secret.. I didn’t want to just rely on “good genes” to keep me looking young for the rest of my life. I was always told you can never start caring for your skin too soon (as I mentioned here) and what could be better than hearing wise words from Grandma?

Well, I didn’t really get the answer to eternal youth that I had expected…

Pretty picture in Lindau to break the paragraphs ;)

Pretty picture in Lindau to break the paragraphs 😉

Her beauty secret wasn’t a particular product.. nor was it a treatment… no, dear Granny’s mysterious secret was actual very natural…

BUTTER and SLEEP

You can imagine how I looked at her through the poorly megapixeled camera resolution

IMG_1680

Yup.. I was astounded.

Butter. And no, she doesn’t smear it on her face, she includes it in her diet.

I still can’t get over it. It’s too simple to be true…

Her comment got me thinking: If her secret was enough sleep and enough butter, why am I continuously in search for perfect skin care. Am I going about this all wrong?

Day in, day out I am scouting Sephora, department stores and magazines to find the next best thing. I wrote about finishing my eye cream and searching for another, preemptive replacement, possibly wasted spent plenty of my allowance and free time … all in fear of one day looking old.

I then realized, she actually had a point. There has long been a trend to suck fat from unwanted areas and placing it into the face, like in the cheeks, to make the patient look younger. A round, rosy face used to be the ultimate sign of youth and health after all…before cheekbones and size zero became the next big thing…

Thus butter, which basically is fat, tends to have a plushing effect on skin: the more fat the more wrinkle free. Ergo, only skinny people need anti-aging skin care? Or more fat will make you look younger? If that were true I could spend more time resting than at the gym and waaaaay less money spent on products 😉 Oh and I could enjoy much much more of this good stuff:

IMG_1154

I’ve interpreted “butter” as my FAVOURITE nut butter – hey it’s all healthy fat, and should also lead to a young complexion right?

What do you think?

Thinking Out Loud Thursday

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. I visited my old hiphop crew last Thursday with one of my dancer friends and have been convinced to join the class tonight again.

IMG_1351

We brought along a cake as a treat. It’s part of the tradition 🙂

2. I am so not a juice person.

IMG_1315I drank this beetroot, ginger, carrot, orange, apple juice last week and just wasn’t feeling it. Definitely more the smoothie type!

3. I ate sushi twice this week, both times with a best friend 🙂

IMG_1369

IMG_1360

Goofing off is more than allowed when surrounded by people who love you no matter what…

IMG_1359IMG_1361

IMG_1362

4. Let me introduce you to baby me, in love with my own feet:

IMG_1367..and with granny

IMG_13685. Speaking of grandparents, my Oma and Opa – who visited last week – just sent us these pictures..

IMG_1352I guess I get the “goofy” genes from my grandfather 🙂 Isn’t it scary how similar my smile is to my father’s?

6. This is my failed attempt at getting my dogs to help me recreate the famous “dog beard”

IMG_1356

IMG_1357

Here is the online link to people who were able to pull it off! 🙂

I felt nearly as frazzled as this little guy that I couldn’t pull it off!

IMG_1353

7. Have you ever taken a “buzz feed” quiz? Well I just took one that would tell you what “emoji emoticon” you were.. I couldn’t believe the accuracy!

IMG_1370

Also, some of the questions are quite funny. One was: what do you think about LOVE, and among the answers you could select one of these options…

IMG_1364

8. As always, I need to highlight doggy cuteness in these posts!

IMG_1350

IMG_1365

Puppy Love ❤

9. I’m a pinterest-a-holic. And it doesn’t stop there: I also save the best images…These four are among my favourites this week:

IMG_1358

IMG_1349

IMG_1363

IMG_1366They’re all so true it hurts!

10. I always look forward to Thursdays! This post is so much fun to write and I love discovering new blogs through the link-ups!
