2014 Recap: My Birthday – Part One

While I anxiously await the many pictures we took on our trip to LA, I thought I could catch you guys up with my life via photo spam, starting with the day I turned 21….

IMG_1850

IMG_1851..also known as the day I finally got my crown 😉

IMG_1849

I reserved a table at Alice Choo at 11 pm on the 20th – it’s a brand new restaurant and club here in Zurich. My Dad actually suggested we went there – talk about trendy 😉

IMG_1847

It was a great location for a largish group. We had two tables and the dance floor all to ourselves. Later on that night the restaurant itself transformed into a club as well, with a live performance by Nôze. It truly was a fantastic evening. I have the best of friends and family and had the most fabulous birthday imaginable!

Finally a weekend with Friends… MARVELOUS

This Saturday I decided to spend quality time with actual humans instead of huddled up in front of my laptop and hanging out with the Munchkin.

IMG_4169

Although Seti is a very cute munchkin…

I hadn’t seen my friends in 3 + weeks. I never wanted to plan anything at the weekend so that I could give myself enough time to get things done…. But this tactic tends to lead me to having more time to procrastinate rather than me actually getting more work done.. so moral of the story: Take breaks, have fun and embrace your social life (in moderation?).

IMG_4172

IMG_4184

I mean, okay, maybe I over exaggerated a little. I did “go out” as in leave the house for my favourite stretching and body pump classes every weekend, but because those are at really annoying, mid-day times, they really mess with my time-management (or lack thereof). So I was thus faced with the difficult choice between socializing and working out (I generally chose the latter for highly justifiable reasons: Once I am out with my friends, I am OUT... so if I “just” workout I technically should be investing more time into my studies… technically..).

I did however do at least 1 marvelous thing each weekend.. let me start with weekend 1:

MiMM

Friday: Lichthof Party in the main University building. This was a once in a lifetime experience where we got to dance in the actual building. The great part about this party was that EVERYONE was there because it was the place to be if you were a student, i.e. I got to see a lot of my old classmates, which is always a treat after being away and losing touch with so many.

There were 3 dance “halls”, one of which was being DJayed by none other than Nachtseminar… so you probably know where I spent most of my time right?

Have I mentioned I have started flyering for my favourite party?

IMG_4022

Weekend 2, I didn’t go out (shocker) but enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my mom on Sunday.

IMG_1834

Crêpes for dinner and dessert? I will take it 🙂 Restaurant recap definitely coming soon, but I need to revisit the quaint café for some better pictures first 🙂 (and more dessert…)

And finally last weekend: I started my weekend by FINALLY going to dance class! It felt great to be “home”, but I was in mega pain on Saturday… not dancing (except for in clubs – no judgement) for 6 months really has a remarkable impact on your body.. like mine totally forgot which muscles to use, and my legs were shaking during both hours (Barre a Terre and Jazz).

IMG_4158

On Saturday, I met up with some of my girlfriends for drinks at Grande – my second favourite place after Dante (actually they are head to head as they are both owned by the same owner, i.e same concept, same cocktails.)

I went all out with the mascara… going out is such a “special occasion” now that I really took my time and made an ordeal out of my makeup routine…

IMG_4173

IMG_4174Obligatory Amaretto Sour

We sat outside due to lack of space and soon started to feel the October chill… my friends wanted to “warm up” with some pizza (I was still full of Kabocha, addiction obsession still going strong (I eat it almost daily, and devour an entire squash in warp speed #sorrynotsorry)), but the place we went to was out, so we did what any cold student would do… we went to Starbucks.

IMG_4187

And since I am now studying Media- and Communications, I feel like I should state that this is unintentional product placement…. we just like to hang out there.. a lot

I had steamed soy milk with a pump of pumpkin spice syrup. Tis the season after all… #allthepumpkin #allthetime

IMG_4175

IMG_4181

We felt like 16-year old high school students again, where you were “forced” to hang out at Starbucks because you were too young for bars (technically allowed to drink wine and beer at 16 here, but I never cared for it then..). This déja vù called for a #throwback selfie!

I was in bed, lights out at 1. The polar opposite of my usual self… but I had a paper to complete and body pump to attend #favouriteworkout

IMG_4186 IMG_4161

I also ate more kabocha, took a few naps and walked the munchkin. Oh, and I tested a new overnight mask from Origins… blog post coming soon (along with the other one that I had promised… saving that for my next, longish, study break 😉 )

IMG_4183So that’s all for now! Not much besides eat, sleep, sports, study, occasional outing and repeat, but I promise to report back with my promised posts ASAP!

Have a great Tuesday! I just did my nails while reading for class tomorrow and am now off to a dance class… talk about productive, huh 🙂

With attitude and nail polish, Anoushé xoxo

Distance makes the Heart grow fonder…

Ok ok ok… I realise it’s been nearly TWO WEEKS since I last posted – buuuuuuuut let me start with: Boy have I missed you guys. Yes, missing someone/ -thing does not make up for my lack of affection lately, but once you hear my reasons you will totally understand. At least I hope you will… or do I need to bribe you with some Kabocha squash?

IMG_1700

Mhhhhhhm Kabocha Squaaaash

IMG_1697

Or with this Coke Zero?

IMG_1692What caused my sudden disappearance, I hear you ask? It all started in my last week of work.. You all know how excited I was to be coming home, right? Well.. I guess my body took my final return to home base as a sign it could finally “give up” – i.e. I ended up catching a nightmarish flu, spending my last two days in bed with nearly 40 degrees fever and lack of appetite, being afraid to leave my bed because I had fainted during the night on my way to the bathroom. Yeah – it was not fun, and definitely not how I imagined my last few nights in Munich to be. I had had this fun evening planned, with Vietnamese food, drinks and dancing, but got oat cakes, binge watching Weeds and regularly taking Nurofen instead. Partaaaaay.

I honestly should’ve seen it coming though – my whole office was on/off sick and (in retrospect) my schedule was absolutely nuts.. there was no way my immune system could’ve coped much longer. There are only so many party weekends with little sleep and loads of working out a body can handle, and I guess that weekend my body told me to cool it for a while. It reminded me I was starting school next week and should probably be spending my last few days preparing and SLEEPING. Which is what I’ve been doing. Sort of. Most of the time.

So let’s pick up where we last left off with a recap of the last few weeks so that I can strive to post more regularly as of tomorrow 😉 even with my terrible flu, I did have a couple of marvellous days… sit tight guys, this post is going to be picture-ladden and über-lengthy – need to get back on track here, so don’t say I didn’t warn you!

MiMM

The last time we spoke about life other than working out and eating, I had just gone to the Street Parade. Knowing my track record, you can imagine that that wasn’t my last weekend out all night… it was actually only the beginning… since that first weekend in August I have seen more sunrises and spent less time recuperating than would be deemed acceptable – no wonder I got so sick…but it’s ok as “school is starting soon so I need to get it out of my system”. Boy do I hope that is true…

These weekend-recaps are actually a great way to practice some “brain jogging” exercises, where I try to see if I can remember everything. Or better “anything”

IMG_1538

The weekend after the Streetparade I went to my favourite bar, Dante, and had their amazing Amaretto Sour. Whenever I go out with my friend T, I know I’m in for a fun and eventful night, and that one was no different. The bar was stuffy, so we thought we would sit outside. As soon as we left though, the clouds decided it was a great time for thunder and lighting. I was wearing a dress and heels. We weren’t amused…

IMG_1541

We decided to hop in a taxi and go to Mascotte. It was my first time as I was never old enough… it’s weird being that weird “twilight” age where I am finally old enough to go to all the clubs which is great, but don’t want to keep getting older, which is not so great… #foreveryoung

Here are some impressions from the rest of that weekend:

IMG_1539

IMG_1548IMG_1544

IMG_1546

Monday morning, back at work, I had the most amazing homemade lemon meringue pie made by one of my co-workers for her birthday.

IMG_1551

It sadly wasn’t the best pre-workout snack, as I experienced a mega sugar-crash mid workout. It was delicious though 🙂IMG_1540

That week, I had Friday off. Bayern celebrates Catholic holidays, so I got to go home on Thursday. And going home on a Thursday can only mean one thing: PLAZA – my favourite club, and favourite party.

I went with a new makeup look: Purple lips (review coming soon)

IMG_1590

IMG_1592

I did some major food shopping that weekend too, as I was home longer. Among the usual egg and fruit purchases, I had discovered spaghetti squash. I could barely contain my excitement and proceeded to send pictures to my parents while doing a happy dance around the squashes. #crazyperson #aisle4

IMG_1594

I had dinner that night with my dad at Nagasui after a sweaty Bodypump session.

IMG_1597We tried their new vegetable dish, and I, of course, had the Panaeng.

IMG_1598

I actually didn’t go out the rest of that weekend… I did however try to fix my excessive partying and lack of sleep with a couple of face masks…

IMG_1613

IMG_1656IMG_1614I also treated myself to some sushi on the train

IMG_1630

IMG_1665

The next week was my second to last in Munich. I had a few appointments around town, so used the extra travelling to visit some of my favourite places, like my favourite coffee shop.

IMG_1672

IMG_1577

Had to have me a last Matcha Latte

IMG_1579

And a last Chiquita Juice – so convenient and healthy 🙂

IMG_1588

That next weekend, one of my best friends was finally back from a long vacation with her boyfriend. She surprised me at the train station and decided we were going out. I ended up leaving my suitcase at her place and picking it up the next day. Her surprising me meant my lashes were not “club-ready” though. I love to have too much mascara on when I go out.. my lashes are already pretty long and dark, so with enough coats of mascara they really make my eyes pop. I ended up making use of the time on the train – such a great way to pass time 🙂

IMG_1685

Before:IMG_1689

After:

IMG_1688

I used L’Oréal Intenza Butterfly Mascara. I normally layer my mascaras, but only had one “emergency” mascara on me. I quite liked the effect it had on my lashes, albeit with a couple of coats 😉

We ended up going to Plaza

IMG_1690

The next day I was up and about relatively early and went to my stretching class. Do you guys remember my splits? I’ve been working hard to improve them.. by adding one block

IMG_1682And then two

IMG_1654IMG_1670Always smiling 😉 My left leg seems to be much stronger, so I hope to achieve similar results on the right side soon.

After class I went to pick up my suitcase and then my mom’s godson at the train-station. He is working in Zug for a month, which is among the most boring Cantons, so I invited him out with my friends on Saturday.

We started our night with sushi from Barfüsser

IMG_1657And then went to Mascotte…until it closed 😉

IMG_1666

Breakfast before hopping on the first tram home was the most delicious pretzel sandwich the size of my face. I cherished every bite after dancing for a few hours. Good stuff

IMG_1708My dad surprised me with this mason jar before dropping me off at the train station

IMG_1713I had been talking about how much I had wanted to become a total hipster who drank coffee from a mason jar when I went back to school #sorrynotsorry. I was so surprised and really touched that he and his fiancé had thought of me when they saw this in Mykonos.

Being a “cool-dad” (apologies for the necessary quotation marks 😉 ), my father never likes missing out on a trend, so he enjoyed his iced coffee in a mason jar of his own when he came to pick me up from Munich to help me move a week later. I hope he doesn’t start growing a long beard next… he’s already got the hipster glasses…

IMG_1678

As mentioned earlier, I got sick the following Thursday. Monday I was still able to run some errands though.

IMG_1676

I had another Matcha Latte, and a Green Juice

IMG_1668

I also bought enough evil eyes and hamsa hands to protect me from anything and everything. Too bad they didn’t prevent my fever…

IMG_1669

I also had a wonderful last PR event for a few perfume brands at Käfer

IMG_1671After a depressing few last nights, my dad picked me up on Saturday and we drove home, where I was finally greeted by my new student ID card

IMG_1374

IMG_1357

My first week back, I started catching up with paperwork, friends and workouts. I have not however made it back to dance classes yet… something is just holding me back from starting and I don’t know why…

I have been organising my bathroom and bedroom in preparation for school next week. Music has been helping me get through the mess.

IMG_1681

IMG_1679I also finished reading “What a girl wants” by Lindsey Kelk

IMG_1680My room is still  a mess – finding (and freaking out over) my courses and finally being home has distracted me plenty. My bathroom on the other hand has never looked more tidy

IMG_1358

IMG_1730

IMG_1731

IMG_1733

I have also bought my first university book

IMG_1727On my first official Thursday back, I of course, had to go to Plaza again…

IMG_1732

I’ve also been to Hiltl a few times

IMG_1693

And finally, this last weekend, I visited my cousin and his mom in Geneva, and promised to visit them more frequently now that I am finally back at home.

IMG_1691So there you have it folks – the past month all summarised in one post. I hope you’ve all been well! Head on over to Katie’s blog for more marvellousness, and talk soon – I promise!

Street Parade Zürich

Confession:

My life has been overwhelming lately. So overwhelming, that I have a never-ending, ever-growing to do list that gives me the creeps with every quick check… and I also have an increasingly chaotic room back home that should have been tackled and cleaned-out long ago (like before I even thought of leaving for New York last YEAR (I also still haven’t changed my light-bulb….)).

The fact that I put all the “important” things off to be dealt with when in Zürich does not help either. I mean, the things I have to do are all things I could easily complete in Munich from the safety of my own (similarly messy) bedroom. But Munich has become this “non-real” place to me, a place I will be leaving in 2 short weeks, and where I never really attempted to settle in let alone get stuff done because I know I will be returning to my actual life and to “normal me” (as my best friend put it when I spoke to her on the phone on Friday) immediately after my internship.

“Munich me” survives off of peanut butter at my desk, eggs with spinach (green eggs?) and curries, goes to the gym nearly every night and often forgets to use body lotion or a face serum simply due to lack of discipline and energy (the horror, I know). She doesn’t blog often enough, or take frequent pictures, and is constantly overwhelmed by the amount of stuff she technically wants to get done, so she continuously writes a reminder for “Zürich me” to do when back in the real world, i.e. home, i.e where my actual life is.

But you see, what happens when I enter “real world Zürich me” is, I finally get to see my friends, spend too much time cooking because I can’t really do that in Munich and basically get nothing done because I am either: food shopping, eating, out with friends, at my favourite dance class or enjoying the comfort of having a big bed with plenty of wiggle room (if I rolled over in Munich I would land on the floor, on top of shoes and my lap-top).

Problem here: Knowing I only have 2 days to organize things I had been putting off for the rest of the week, I enter a state of even more desperation to get things done and ultimately get NOTHING done because I end up diving deeper under my covers and binge watching Dharma and Greg (which I sadly just finished, so of course immediately began with Weeds). It is a vicious circle I can’t seem to break out of…I mean, I am generally such an organized, do things immediately kind of person, that this “vacation” from needing to use my brain has been kinda nice, but also very tormenting… wish me luck that I can actually get back to “normal” and resume “Zürich me” characteristics ASAP!

Now, having pounced a rather lengthy intro on you, I am finally getting to the point. That being: I haven’t blogged about enough things lately (mainly fun weekend adventures) and will now attempt to cram as much info in to as little words as possible, all of which will be making this long overdue post an absolutely marvelous one!

A few weekends ago, the Swiss celebrated a national holiday on August 1. I had a late dinner by the lake with my dad and friends and scoffed at the basically non-existent display of fireworks before heading home to catch enough rest for Saturday.

IMG_1473

This was taken on my way home from Munich, #nofilter

Once a year Zürich hosts one of the largest techno parties similar to the love parade along the lake. It is called the Street Parade, and it is a time where you spend an afternoon in the city barely dressed/in costume, dancing away to electro music blaring from one of the many floats driving by. It is definitely a scene, and I started going when I was 16, and have been 3 times since (in 2 year intervals, funny). As a child I remember being able to hear the base all the way to our home, so I am glad my parents kept me from going sooner. Also, I tend to belong to the more “overdressed” people when I go… yes I know “everyone” is basically naked, and you are meant to wear a costume, but I still don’t feel comfortable exposing too much skin in the city and among large crowds of people. It’s just kind of weird… and brings out my inner conservative prude 😉

I sadly didn’t put any effort at all into my costume this year. I didn’t want to be the Cheshire Cat again and didn’t think anyone would get the joke of my Halloween costume

IMG_1476

…so I opted for a cool “cargo pant and tight leather shirt with my Cheshire Cat ears look” that I could’ve also worn out to the club later, if I ended up staying in town that late (people also showed up at Plaza, my fav club, in ridiculous costumes though!). What’s more, it was meant to rain, and I didn’t want to get cold… gee I am starting to sound old!

IMG_1480

I borrowed my friends water gun for this pic. Her military costume was amazing!

IMG_1477

Since my outfit was “boring” in comparison to others, I tried to go for dramatic eye makeup: dark smokey eyes with a long wing
IMG_1478

While looking through these pictures, I realized I wore something similar the very first time I went to the Street Parade 4 years ago with one of my closest guy friends

39695_10150234546545245_7491754_n

And it also rained! How much fun is that picture? I really need to learn to be a bit more “fun and care-free” again…

I found a few old pictures from that first parade experience, so bear with me while I take a fun walk down memory lane and start to miss Zürich and my friends again 😉

39868_10150234772665245_746586_n

We met this FABULOUS person

40572_10150234756510245_6527729_n#selfie in the rain, already a thing in 2010

41210_10150234578020245_1126303_nand this wouldn’t be a proper post without me dancing… strong shoulders were needed here, but thankfully most of my (guy) friends are twice my height. 🙂

2 years later, I braved the festival again, this time with my bestest friend and in costume!

551238_10152019159275245_1179109649_n

Check out my yellow lashes! I was a bumble bee, she was a dead ballerina with face makeup inspired by the “Day of the Dead”. She always goes all out with outfits and will not set food anywhere unless she has achieved the flawless look she had in mind.. very admirable, but I tend to be more of the “ain’t nobody got time for that” type!

Fun Fact: I wore the same costume as on my last day of school before finals week. It is a tradition in Swiss high schools for the graduating class to dress up, which we actually ended up doing twice: once before our exams, and once after officially graduating.

Back to the future, erm I mean now…. I spent most of the afternoon in town, but wasn’t really feeling it this year. It was as if for the first time I actually noticed the whole drug consumption and was disgusted by how drunk people behaved.. I must really be getting old… don’t get me wrong, the party really isn’t dangerous and can (and should) be enjoyed without consuming anything, I just seemed to notice the excessiveness much more now that I am older. We also lost one of the girls from our group which annoyed us all because we spent a good part of an hour attempting the impossible by trying to find her in the unruly crowd… put us all in a weird mood… When we decided to finally give up the search, we danced for a few hours before walking to Bellevue to regroup. On our way there I spotted these two idiots dancing on a lamp-post on the bridge

IMG_1479

I used the word idiots because a) the drop from those lamps is dangerous and could either end on the concrete floor, railings or in the lake b) there is no way they would safely be able to return down to the bridge because most people would need copious amounts to drink before attempting such a daredevil climb. Up is always easier…

I left town around 7 and head home. I wanted to leave enough time to eat dinner and find an outfit for the after-party at Plaza, as one of my favourite parties from Ibiza was going to be there…

IMG_1494

Defected in the House!

I was glad I went with full makeup for the parade, as I ended up losing track of time while stressing over what I wanted to wear (as always..)

IMG_1496

It was a great Saturday. I seriously don’t know where I got the energy to party all day, all night and get up the next morning and go to BodyPump but I did. It must be all the dates and nut butter I am eating lately (fantastic combo by the way!)

IMG_1589

Obviously, if I put my mind to something, I can do anything, so for some reason I must subconsciously not want to organize my life just yet, because I know I should technically be able to do it…

Oh well…

IMG_1481

Thank you Katie for hosting this marvelous weekend recap!

Have a great start to the week!

IBIZA 2014

Hello hello 🙂 Look who’s being a model blogger and posting regularly again – I’m back baby 😉

As promised on Sunday, I bring to you a recap of my spectacular week on none other than my fav of the Islas Baleares: EIVISSA (or Ibiza in non Catalan terms a.k.a Spanish)

IMG_1926

I mentioned to you about a year ago that I feel a real connection to this particular island’s vibe… something about the hippy-ish, party thing they’ve got going on while still being sort-of down to earth and chilled really speaks to me. I guess the island sort of describes me well: I’ve got that wild, open, fun, talkative, party personality (read: hyperactive mojo that I cannot (will not) switch off) while also love the little things described on most dating homepages ** like oh I don’t know let’s say long walks on the beach (yawn ?), captivating discussions on life (yikes), beautiful flowers (well who doesn’t), pretty bracelets (which is just ma thang) and and and and… a really good sangria? Or does that fit into “party” ? Nevertheless: me and Ibiza, we just go together like PB and J, ok?

IMG_1883

(**sidenote: I have yet to desperately sign up on one, but we girls all seem to think alike and think certain “fun facts” attract a particular “type” (uhm, NOT) so I have a presumption on what one might find there.. okay? 😉 )

425

My mom and I first started vacationing on the infamous party island when dear friends of ours invited us back in 2002. My mom being her slightly paranoid self (and I say this in the utmost loving way) couldn’t imagine why our friends would choose a drugged up, boozy British infested island as a family vacation destination and politely declined with each and every passing Summer – until said year. I don’t know how much begging and pleading went in to her booking our flights there, but knowing her will-power is far stronger than mine (I can melt like butter in a frying pan if convinced with plausible arguments… and am not too bull-headed about the idea in the first place, otherwise I can be strong like an Amazonian too  😉 ) I can imagine it took plenty of convincing… and we were both glad she “caved”: We proceeded to visit Ibiza every single following Summer.

Here is a quick photo blast from the past:

40217_10150233530970245_1682564_n

We soon discovered the hidden jewels the island had to offer.. sure it is known for its parties (and they really can be as awesome as raved about) but Ibiza also offers loads of culture, history and ambience…

539

And so you can imagine the amount of memories we had established by the time my father thought it was his turn to explore the magical island… And explore he did: My plan for this holiday was to show him the places I found particularly special about the island, not the places he would normally be invited to. I made a point of going to the usual “hangouts” – places my mom and I discovered – as it truly was hard for me to be there without her for a full week and I couldn’t bear not experiencing the same adventures (the last time I was only there for 2 days, also with my father.. my mom and I sadly haven’t been back since I was 16).

IMG_1960

But of course reliving a moment sometimes makes you forget the creation of new ones.. I don’t know how many times I annoyed my dad with: “Well Mommy would have done this differently” instead of just embracing the fact that, despite it being the same island, the same place and sometimes the same friends around us, it just couldn’t be the same experience. Looking back I probably should’ve taken my own advice to heart and tried to “live a little, loosen up, “yolo”, not compare as much to the past, stop living in the past generally….” But we’ve all been there, and done that (I think).. and as already mentioned it is becoming a big goal of mine to stop worrying/over thinking and just LIVE.

IMG_1958

Carpe Diem, and all that jazz…

For example: the scene: We went to my favourite sunset café in the world (Café del Mar) and then went to the cutest place where they only serve Pan con Tomate (bread with some tomato spread on top), the best manchego cheese and jamón – that’s it. Talk about not being very paleo 😉

IMG_1969

IMG_1967

Anyhoo, by the time we had relaxed, enjoyed the music, the sunset  and dinner, our original plan of heading to Pacha for Steve Aoki was slowly starting to feel too overwhelming… what – you want me to put on makeup, a dress and high-heels and go pay too much for 1 night of music and terrible pick-up lines? Uhm..

But then my dad came to the rescue and said he would drive us there (at like 1 am) if we got ready ASAP. Note: I hadn’t showered yet and my friend was about to fall asleep, because, well we thought we were going to be boring and not go after all.

So at 1.30 we were walking into the club…and danced…and were thrown cake at (I had whipped cream ON MY ARM – Aoki is CRAY CRAY)… and had the most AMAHZING time.

I will be uploading some videos from that night and the night I saw Calvin Harris (OMG) later, as WordPress seems to have trouble with large videos…

Now having a fun girlfriend along for the trip not only meant fun disco party nights, but also waaaaaay too many pictures. The rest of this post will be conducted with limited commentary (I know, almost impossible for me 😉 )

Oh and for those of you who kept on scrolling and reading all the way until the end, here is a treat:

DAVID GUETTA WAS AT THE BEACH WITH US. But of course, when we went up to him and asked for an autograph, he was too busy relaxing… he didn’t however say that to the skimpy-dressed girls who asked as well… shame

Looking back at these pictures make me want to up and leave for the island again.. I had such an amazing time with family and friends and cannot wait to go back 🙂

Thanks for reading! There will most likely be more pictures coming your way with the video uploads, as I didn’t want to make you look at ALL of them at once 😉

Have a beautiful day!

We don’t sleep – Weekend Recap

After being in Munich for the past 3 weeks and travelling every weekend with my dad to visit friends and family, I was looking forward to a weekend with my friends back home in Zürich. Despite knowing many amazing people all over the world, Zürich will always be where I am happiest (and yes this may partially be because I know the city like no other and grew up here. I know I would need to spend major quality time with my next “chosen home” to really be able to know where I belong, but for now it’s Zürich).

As soon as I got back to the apartment, I started up Spotify and listened to “Small Bump” by Ed Sheeran on repeat while starting the grueling task of washing 3 weeks worth of laundry…

IMG_1659

There were a few more loads in the bathroom…

It was a bit overwhelming to start doing this much laundry at 11 pm… so I made myself some banana protein ice cream for motivation and fell into bed around 1. I make a point of trying to eat all my favorite foods while back home and used being up this late as the perfect excuse for a midnight snack 🙂 I don’t really feel comfortable using the kitchen much in Munich and it’s been hard to keep up with my healthy eating habits…Going back to my favourite ways at home is one thing I’m looking forward to after my internship (but I will really really miss my job 😦 )

I woke up early on Saturday for brunch with this beauty at Le Pain Quotidien:

IMG_1844

I normally have oatmeal and/or a pain au chocolat (they are divine here!) but decided against the “non-stop hunger” that wheat causes me because I had a dance class later in the day. Their scrambled eggs and fruit salad were nearly as great, but I did miss their White Chocolate spread 😉

After dance and yoga I met up with another friend for a Cool Lime Refresha at Starbucks. I hadn’t seen him in FOREVER and it was great to catch up. I also managed to squeeze in some grocery shopping before running home to get changed for dinner with two of the best girls in the world.

fotoThis is an old picture from our 3 week trip to Oxford with our class 4 years ago. It’s high time to take a new picture, my two better thirds 😀 ❤

We went to Tiffins, and guess what: I remembered to take pictures of the food BEFORE eating! It all looked so scrumptious that I naturally whipped out my phone! #instagram #instinct

After dinner we drove home to finish getting ready for a party. Meanwhile, buckets of rain poured from the sky. Ugh. We spent an hour listening to the latest party songs waiting for the storm to die down before braving the outdoors.

I stayed at the party for about an hour before heading into town for my next “date” #jampacked #sociallife 🙂

IMG_1721These two are the BEST ❤ I hadn’t seen them for too long and it was great catching up and turning night into day on the dance floor. You know you are among your best friends when you don’t notice the lights being turned on in the club and are shocked when the DJ announces his last song because you are too busy boogying to notice it was already 4.30 am…

This has been happening waaaay to frequently lately as I am only ever in town for 2 short nights and never want them to end. My tired body and designer bags under my eyes will thank me when my internship is over though so I can finally fully detox, sleep and meet friends during the day again 🙂

But a little party never killed nobody, am I right? 🙂

I was so grateful to see some of my closest and most important friends this weekend. I missed my best friend this weekend as she was studying for her finals and hope to catch up with her and the others I didn’t get to see this time round very very soon.

Thanks to all of the fabulous people around me, a weekend in Zürich is without a doubt always absolutely marvelous 🙂

Spill it Sunday Fun

I generally don’t post on Sundays. Especially not since living in Munich… I never find inspiration during the 2 short days I get to spend in Zurich (if I come home) and also tend to be running around most of the time trying to get laundry done, get to my favourite dance classes and eat foods I miss when I’m not at home. I also try to soak up as much quality time with my friends and family as I can (read: turn night in to day) before leaving on the last train back to Munich.

So after reading Arman’s Spill it Sunday post while munching on my (paleo – it’s becoming a regular thing now) brunch, having finished most of my laundry and begun procrastinating the packing process, I thought it was high time I post on a Sunday. So here are 5 x 5 answers to this week’s fun questions 🙂

Spill-it-Sunday-option-2-1

Five facts about….your family!

1. Like Arman I am also Iranian (but we prefer to say Persian… like the cat… meooow). I’m also 1/4 American and 1/4 Austrian, was born in London, grew up in Zurich, currently live in Munich and hope to live in Paris one day, New York again, and Seattle maybe too 🙂

2. For a very long time, I was the only girl among my cousins – a princess if you will (Insert Ecard that I am in love with and will not add again here). When I was 14 though I gave my “sole-princess” title up (happily) and got to share being a princess with the cutest little girl ever (who now also has a sister, so we are three girls all together now 🙂 ) All in all I have 4 cousins on my Mom’s side and 6 on my Dad’s

The oldest of all the cousins :)

3. Facebook is a thing in my family. My father comments, my Aunt likes his comment and my Grandmother comments on his comment… my friends think they are “cool” for exactly this reason. I not so much.. the dorky comments do make me laugh though and I appreciate that they take time out of their day to stay in touch with me somehow 🙂

4. I have family all over the world. Must be an awesome Persian thing 😉

5. I’m an only child but always wanted to have an older brother.. I was never able to accept that it isn’t biologically possible.

Five facts about…your childhood!

1. I started with Ballet at a very young age and never stopped! I also forced my friends to dance to my choreographies…(still do)

2. I had every child’s dream: My own pony! Her name was Pebbles and I loved her to bits.. she lived an amazingly long life thanks to my mother’s love and care. I stopped riding when I was about 15 in favour of more dance.

3. Growing up in London gave me a British accent. When I met up with my kindergarten friends for the first time after 10 years the first thing I was told was: Oh my god, you are American now! At least I didn’t have a Swiss accent…

4. I played soccer for a short time during primary school – I was goalie. We had tournaments at school and my dad would help me train.

5. I had extreeeeeeeeeeeemely long hair until I decided to cut them “short” (Read: past shoulder-length) when I was 13. My mother still has heart-attacks when I go to the hairdressers… (my hair have never been shorter than past shoulder-length…)

Five facts about…you + school!

1. I didn’t trust myself to speak fluent German until I went to high school because all my friends knew me as the “English” girl. I learned German perfectly well, but only used it either in class or with my friends at after-school activities. It is still weird to speak German to my friends from primary.

2. I went to a maths and science high school. Imagine the disappointment around me when I decided not to pursue a biology or maths degree but a job in beauty.

3. I was a nerd. I had amazing grades and studied hard to get them – I’m proud of it. I lost a bit of that discipline in my last year of school and hope to find it again at Uni.

4. School lunches were the most social activity ever. When we had 2 hours we would go sit by the lake as soon as it was warm enough. I miss those days.

5. I really loved History and Economics, but didn’t enjoy Economics when I attempted to study it for a semester. I started to despise Maths towards the end although I loved it the other few years of school. I blame this on the teachers… either they inspired me or bored me…

Five facts about...you + travel!

1. I love Paris. It is currently my favourite city.

IMG_0216

1146713_10153137752580245_981689093_n

2. I have yet to visit much of Asia or Africa. I have also never set foot on Australian or Canadian soil.

3. I really hope to backpack through Europe with some friends soon.

4. Going to Thailand to eat an authentic Panaeng curry would be a dream come true 😉

5. Despite my family living all over the world, I don’t get out of Zurich often. This must change…

Five facts about…your eating style!

1. I was raised vegetarian. I also went vegan shortly because I thought I could then eat more (I am a major volume eater). Lately I’ve been testing the whole Paleo diet and I find it works quite well. I’ve also started to enjoy fish.

2. I’ve been putting bananas in my smoothies and calling it ice cream before it was cool… #hipstermoment #nanaicecream

3. I could eat tofu curries all day err day

4. A week should not pass without eating rice at least once. In true Persian fashion, a meal is NEVER complete without rice.

5. I have recently discovered a love for lemon meringue pie, and I really want to paleofy it so I can enjoy it more often (I try to avoid wheat)

Thanks Arman for hosting! Have a beautiful Sunday everyone.
