Obsession Alert: Code Red!

You guys. It is murder working at a magazine. I am SURROUNDED by all the products I want to try and I can’t do more than just test out a little on my hand… so sad 😦

I’ve resorted to drowning my sorrows in spoonfuls of peanut butter and endless Sephora “loves”. Seriously, it is an issue. I just bought a 500 g jar two days ago and it is already half empty.

Whoops

I tend to spoon feed myself more upon utter excitement, like when I found this eye cream. If only it weren’t so expensive…. and nut butter so calorific…

Whoops again

Also, I NEED this in my life. It would a) be “parfait” and b) my first Chanel makeup purchase… you have to start somewhere… the only thing is I can’t quite convince myself to spend the money on it because the colour is outrageously similar to this. But it’s Chanel so it should be ok.. right?

Have you guys watched Girl Code? It used to be on at the gym at SLC, and I found it ridiculous then – but after finding some relatively funny gifs and memes on Pinterest (that are sadly very accurate and applicable to me) I thought I would actually watch an episode without mute turned on. Now I am officially hooked. Goodbye social life… oh wait that’s gone anyways this weekend as I decided to stay here and know NOONE! I do have my eye on a cute barista though…..

Speaking of working out: I found an amazing gym here! I can’t wait to train more frequently…

IMG_1687

Oh I also wouldn’t mind a Lancôme lipstick or two… don’t blame me, blame Instagram like I do

Also, anyone want to take me to Paris sometime soon?

IMG_0138

IMG_0216

Because Maison Guerlain has opened the mothership of all beauty heavens. It’s an oasis full of everything from makeup to an in-house spa to a restaurant… It’s number 68 – I can’t believe I was so close last time!

IMG_0139

That was outside Louis Vuitton, but I would have rather seen Guerlain

my problems people… seriously…;)

And can someone find me this lock?

8412755091_2d308d5555_z

It’s currently my background on my phone!

Oh and on a completely non beauty/dance note, I love this song and this one, and this one

Actually maybe it is a slight dance note, as I can feel choreography-inspiration coming my way. You know I always seem to dance more after going to the gym? Weird…

Question of the day

What things are making your heart beat faster lately?

My Signature Thang

I have always adored women who appear to have their lives under control. It is a trait I hope to one day master.

MjAxMi02NDRkYjM5NzhiZmQ5OWU0

Sometimes I seem to associate this effortless elegance with Paris: Whenever I hear about graceful women my mind wanders to Café de Flore, and envision a naturally beautiful woman wearing pearls, a classic Chanel jacket, cigarette pants and kitten heels. I picture a mix of Audrey Tautou, Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, and all of the French designer’s muses sitting at a table with red lipstick that doesn’t stain her glass filled with sparkling rosé, a plate of exquisite food before her, attracting the attention of any person to ever lay eyes on her.

I also imagine this lady to have the class and etiquette of a generous and timeless Iranian woman, with a brain and who knows very well who she wishes to be and that she is in control of her life.

I hope to one day be that kind of woman. Every day I meet people and see things that inspire me to become that envisioned woman sitting in Café de Flore. Whether it is my Aunt who naturally set a glass of water and a bowl of raw nuts by my bed just in case I was hungry, my mom who stayed true to her beloved skinny jeans and cowboy boots, owning her outfit because it is timeless, and who always reminded me that a woman should always be classy (yes, these comments were generally made when I was younger and begged to wear short shorts or mini skirts) and taught me the art of entertaining – Persian style, my other Auntie who inspires me with her positive outlook and love for the power of yoga, or my grandmother who looks more glamorous than Elizabeth Taylor and was even recently described as extremely elegant at the Sarah Lawrence Admitted Students Day that she accompanied me to.

109663-Nice+happiness+happy+quotes+thAs you see, I have a lot of dreams and plans as to who I wish to become and how I hope to be perceived. I have already started to plan certain things like to start writing a journal, to send thank you letters and hand written cards, to finally get my room organised and to make it look more grown up… and to finally have a signature look/character trait/inspiring way of life. A way people can remember me by. I long ago established my bouncy and talkative personality for which many people know and appreciate me, but sometimes I wish to recreate old ways… I want to be known for who I am and no longer for who I am meant to/trying to be, for sometimes, once my spunkiness was established, I felt I could no longer be any different and was even introduced as “that girl who I once told you about”. It puts you under a lot of pressure when you know you absolutely must be happy 24/7…

And that is why I started to express myself through dance, and let myself get inspired by the Evil Eye and dramatic eyeliner. I adore what the Hamsa Hand and the Evil Eye represent and choose to wear it every day. Wearing bracelets has always been a thing people have known me for, and now I have established it further by adding meaning to it. I also love to wear the Om symbol – it reminds me to stay calm and collected throughout the day (not always successful, but at least I’m trying ;))

Me at 15 - wearing bracelets

Me at 15 – wearing bracelets

me at 16 - wearing bracelets

me at 16 – wearing bracelets

And recently, the winged eyeliner has become my thing. Sometimes I keep it discreet, sometimes I tune it up with colours and mascara… but it is always there! And slowly I am creating my own look…

New Members to my Beauty Family a.k.a I just couldn’t resist

Working at a place where I am surrounded by products has a downside …

IMG_1581I see everything, I test everything, I want everything.

If only money grew on trees…

Even today, on the rainiest of rainy days, I stumble into a parfumerie and start testing YSL lipsticks, not because I am in need of one – nope, I’m actually all lipstick-ed out! It was more the beautiful packaging calling my name, “you know you want us”, “you know you need us”. No pretty lipsticks, not today! “But you don’t have one like us yet..”.. okay, but let me see how expensive… 50 SFR?!

I immediately left the store before too much damage was done. Proud of me? You should be! The YSL Volupté Sheer Candy Lipsticks are GORGEOUS! I fell in love with Dewy Papaya and Juicy Grapefruit.. hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink 😉

IMG_9467

Anyhoo, less about what didn’t make it to my collection ( 😦 ) and more about what I actually did buy and is being used gleefully…

IMG_1579

I’ve been reading on a couple of blogs that Cleansing Oil is the new way to go. Apparently L’Oréal makes a great one, but it doesn’t exist here. So I was more than pleased to find a similar product at the Body Shop! So far I’ve tested it on foundation and on last bits of mascara. It leaves my skin nice and smooth and is a great alternative to cleansing milk or just plain eye-makeup remover.

IMG_1582

Another Body Shop purchase was this hand cream. My hands (and my feet) are the one part of my body that I always forget to use sun screen on. While at InStyle I overheard a discussion on the importance of using a cream with SPF to keep your hands from looking too old too quickly, so naturally I made it my mission to find and use a cream myself – future me would definitely be grateful! Surprisingly, not many creams include sun protection! This one has SPF 15, a delicate rose scent and is really light!

IMG_1583

The Body Shop really inspired me this week… I’ve always been into “wake-up products” so I thought it would be interesting to try a vitamin C scrub. So far, so good…

IMG_1587

Also, the sudden work stress I’m under has made my skin start to break out. I’ve never had this problem before, and it’s still only the odd blemish here and there, but still; I wanted to immediately nip it in the butt! Tea Tree is great for blemish treatment – it cools and dries the area and reduces the appearance almost immediately!

IMG_1588I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t buy a new nail polish, would it?

IMG_9456

Even just buying two is completely and utterly normal for me… and just check out their names!

IMG_1586

I also thought it was time to try a new Eye Cream. I like the ones I have from Bobby Brown and Clarins, but it’s always good to switch things up and keep things fun 😉

IMG_1585I’ve also fallen in love with this eye liner. It’s like a felt tip pen! I’m normally not really into jet black, but this one is so easy to apply that it doesn’t leave my eyes looking too dark!

IMG_1584

Not too sure how I feel about this lipstick yet. It’s meant to adjust to your perfect lip color.. I’m not sure if it really works… only time will tell, but it is a cool idea!

IMG_1589

And finally, my best friend convinced me to purchase this. Since I’m also in search of the perfect concealer, I welcomed it with open arms. It’s light-reflective, thus great for that fresh, beauty-sleep look 😉

Have a great weekend!

Mani-MISSING! + Mega Thank You

Ah! It’s Tuesday. Dooh!

IMG_1479I did not forget. I honestly didn’t. I just.. sort of thought..

IMG_1475

THAT TODAY IS APRIL FOOL’S DAY 🙂 And I couldn’t think of any other way to celebrate April 1st than by posting a Manicure Monday post on Tuesday. And because it’s Tuesday and not Monday (and a day full of pranks) I bring to you: TWO SIMILAR NAIL POLISHES 🙂

IMG_1487

Aren’t I a peach for telling you that this is no illusion. Both polishes are soft pinks. Both are high-end products. And both look similarly amazing. Pastel, blushing rose colours are so pretty…

IMG_1493

IMG_1495

IMG_1485

IMG_1477

IMG_1490

Now let’s take a brief moment to bask in the beauty of their names. First up: Chanel – Ballerina. That one is obvious. Of course I would be drawn to that name. I mean seriously..

It doesn’t matter that I haven’t actually set foot in a ballet studio in FOREVER, but that’s another story for another time. I did go to Jazz class last night though (yay me!).

Ballerina is soft pink, almost nude. A reminiscence of the tutu-leotard combo I used to pull of as a little girl.  Ahh childhood…

The polish itself covers well – you wouldn’t expect anything less from Chanel. I do have one complaint though: The brush is too narrow. After being spoiled endlessly by Dior last week, I do not appreciate non-voluptuous brushes. Bigger is better people, get with the program! It really is frustrating to apply polish with a narrow brush when you have zero patience…

IMG_1474

Now on to Dior. It’s called Tra-La-La. How cute is that?!

IMG_1483Although similar in color upon first swipe, this polish coats the nail slightly more leaving the nail a more luscious pink and less of a barely there nude. And, as mentioned above, the brush takes me to “wonderland” 😉

IMG_1492

Whichever you choose, you’re in for a long-lasting nail polish!

Also, I’d like to take this moment to thank the beautiful people at InStyle Magazine in Germany. I wouldn’t have been able to compare and contrast both polishes if it hadn’t had been for the opportunity I received to intern there for a month. I am extremely thankful for the experience I received and all the products I got to discover! I really had the time of my life and I can’t wait to return :)! So, THANK YOU!

Hope you had a wonderful Monday and are having a sunny Tuesday!

Manicure Monday – Azure

I know, I know.. I’ve been abandoning you guys lately. It’s not entirely my fault though; working at a fashion magazine in the beauty department seems to have taken up my blogging neurons in my brain. For some reason writing and researching for cosmetics is not an unlimited resource – I can’t seem to do it 24/7. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore my job and my blog. I mean, I get all excited at the magazine when I discover new products in the mail that haven’t been released yet and immediately start drafting a post in my head with an overenthusiastic grin on my face because I just cannot contain all this acquired knowledge and absolutely MUST share it with you beautiful people before my heart and head explode from all the new things I want to purchase. But then, sadly, I realize that technically I can’t tell you about all the gorgeous, amazing things until they are actually on the market – this really dampens my joy 😦

Thus, me = unhappy = no blog posts about beauty.. and because I’m currently not in Zurich and am always working into the evenings, I don’t have any dance classes = no dance posts. Can you feel my frustration?

Trying out products on my hand :D

Trying out products on my hand 😀

Anyhoo, I keep on trying to remind myself that I can still write the posts, but can’t publish them until late April/May. This somehow cheers me up slightly and keeps my spirits on the higher side, because I can at least share my excitement with you eventually 😉 So be prepared for plenty of posts being bombarded your way!

Now, onwards with a manicure that made me want to leave Germany and head for the Tropics (or just to the South of France)!

IMG_1466

(Short note on the side, I am in LOVE with Lindsey Kelk. Her book “The Single Girl’s To -Do List” was my trusted companion in my long train travels from Munich to Zurich and back last weekend. A really fun read, perfect for the beach, and it matches the nail polish 😉 )

IMG_1467

Turquoise. Shiny turquoise. Like the ocean. Summer must be around the corner…

IMG_1465This is my first polish by Chanel. I’m not too fond of the brush, but the quality of the colour makes up for the slightly difficult application (I prefer wider brushes). Also, depending on how many coats you apply and how the light hits you nails, the turquoise will either appear more grey or more shiny blue; it’s like two colours in one – what a bargain! 😉

IMG_1459What’s more, its name calls for the beach: Azuré. Côte d’Azur. Ahhh… France… Cannes.. sunshine..

*Dreaming again*

A little drop of the Mediterranean on your nails 😉

Have a beautiful and sunny Monday, loves! I promise my next post won’t take ages to appear!

With attitude and nail polish, Anoushé xoxo

Manicure Monday – Finally!

Guess who finally managed to:

1. Do her nails

2. Find time between homework and rehearsals to blog about it

3. Post an entry about it by Monday

IMG_0290

I think you know who..

IMG_0284

For this week’s manicure I chose a dark, crimson red. I feel very grown up now.

IMG_0285

This OPI polish is called from A to Z Zurich and you can tell it was a deliberate choice because of its name 😉 (and I’m pairing this manicure with a Glitzerland pedicure)

IMG_0289

It’s a nice red; not a classic Chanel, but an elegant and classy alternative, a good “little red nail polish” to have on hand.

IMG_0287Especially when you need a quick, not perfect, touch up before a friends birthday party! 🙂
