Eye Cream Empty

So you know how I swore off purchasing new products until I finished the ones that I have.. yada yada yada…? Funny how the evening after I wrote that post I actually used up my last swipe of Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream.

Life is weird like that sometimes. I think it was a sign… maybe I am making a big mistake by not giving in to my endless wants..

Well universe you’re just gonna have to cope with my reluctance abstinence this time… I am planning on staying true to my vow (for longer than 1 night).

IMG_1747I mean, I saw it coming. The pot was emptying and I had yet to find a proper replacement. Endless hours on websites and trekking up and down the aisles of Douglas, I still hadn’t found an adequate product to take its place. It wasn’t due to lack of choice – there are sooo many eye creams out there. Also, it wasn’t like I didn’t have any replacements at home… they just weren’t what I was looking for. You see, the majority of the products on the market have a gel-like, cooling texture which I prefer to use in the mornings to wake my eyes up (which are the ones I still have plenty of at home). In the evenings however I prefer something creamier, which is why when my first jar of Hydrating Eye Cream was empty, I immediately purchased a second without thinking about another option. Convenience my friends, is the devil…

Now that this one is finally empty though, I think it is time to move on…

For a first, uninquired choice it definitely was fine for a 18-year old with little knowledge about eye care. Now, with the information that I have attained through the blog and work, I have come to the conclusion that this product is just not good enough. What’s more, in my co-workers eyes, Bobbi Brown is “just” a Make-Up brand, and should remain as such. Their skin care range could just be a money-making scheme. Food for thought…

If I really start to scrutinize, I remember this cream burning my skin when I applied it after removing mascara. A cream should not do that…

Otherwise I found the cream to do what it promises: It hydrates and cools, and was great in the evenings before bed. I also liked that it wasn’t anti-age and thus less aggressive a cream (but again, it did burn and tingle). Most creamy eye-products are for ages 35 and over – my young-ish skin can’t handle the extreme properties of anti-age creams just yet. Also, at my age, I was told anti-age creams might even have the opposite effect because they are so aggressive.. scary..

So now I am in search of a cream to use in the evenings….

Do you have any suggestions?

Have a great day!
